I’m not sure what you have heard about the housing market and searching for a home in December so I thought I would clear things up. The Winter Holiday Season is actually an awesome time to purchase a home – especially for buyers!
The simple reasons:
1. Sellers tend to be a little more motivated.
2. There are far fewer buyers competing for the same popular properties.
Those buyers that have been through a hot Spring market know what I mean… multiple offers, “highest and best”, “escalation clauses”, buyers waiving home inspections, sellers not accepting any contingencies, deferred showings to increase hype, and often Cash Offers beating out everyone in the end. Not fun.
Let me share a little secret too, even when you are on the sellers’ side of the transaction, multiple offers can be very stressful working through different buyers’ situations and terms to ultimately decide which one is the most solid. (Experienced Agents also know that buyers’ remorse is a big consequence of a fast moving, “gotta get my offer accepted” Spring market. All too often we see buyers reconsider their offer that may have been over asking price once the reality of being under contract to purchase sets in.)
